When I started out running in the winter I had all kinds of tech fabrics that left me either too cold, too warm, or too sweaty. I am now a merino devotee. Tracksmith Brighton or Harrier are my go to layers. Rather than buying thicker merino, I just double up when the temps drop below 30F. I tried Arctilect but found it to be itchy and have an old Rabbit merino blend which I like, but they don’t make anymore. The Tracksmith is pricey, but quality has been great. I have worn and washed weekly during the cooler months for 4+ years and it is still going strong. I also now wear merino in the shoulder season up to about 50F as it is better at regulating temperature. Other kit I like: Smartwool PHD socks (Darn Tough are also good option), Buff lightweight merino gaiters, Smartwool merino headbands. Smartwool liner gloves work better than most other gloves I tried too. I’m with Robbe on this one. Invest in merino you won’t regret it
