I take easy runs at about 7:10 pace and 7 flat to 6:40 for steady. At those paces the shoe comes ALIVE like some sort of Frankenstein’s monster. It is magical how much bounce you get if you strike right (outside of the foot going in) and break in the shoe properly. Is it worth 300 bucks? Heck no, but for $160 its one of the best shoe purchases I’ve ever made.

Consider, though, that Adidas can always seek a license from Nike if they think they need one. Easy royalties for Nike. That’s assuming Nike would want to license, and they can agree to a reasonable royalty rate. Which they probably would.

As far as the shoe, I have enjoyed it. It is just as you say, though: heavy, and a tad unstable. But I LOVE the foam
