The Magic Speed 4 is softer, but that’s not always the best thing. The firmness of the Hyperion Max 2 is what makes it work so well, at slow paces it doesn’t work, up that pace into tempo and it comes to life. I find that beyond that pace it starts to lose out again. Don’t get me wrong I really love the Hyperion Max 2 but if you want a bit more pace then Magic Speed 4 has it. I think the Magic Speed 4 is somewhat underrated, I’d like a bit more width at the forefoot but otherwise it’s a great shoe

Nice review (possibly four people now Caryn?) , a local trusted athlete who is in the industry also said very good things about the new max2, Mine arrive in August (the UK) . I have picked it up as a replacement for the saucony speed 3’s (which were okay but a tad to soft), I want a shoe which does not have a carbon plate and can do my race pace stuff while not having to switch shoes for warm up and cool down miles and is not the superblast . . this looks to fit the bill.
