I have seen a lot. In general I believe the selection of specialty running footwear is extremely good and superior to the long ago early days. I know opinions vary widely on that subject, but that’s my view. One area I feel the running shoe vendors do not pay sufficient attention to is outsole durability. In their slightly misguided preoccupation with lighter and lighter training shoes the companies have forgotten that most runners connect quality and satisfaction with their shoes with how well(or not) the outsole wear is. One of the main ways to lighten shoes has been to have less outsole material overall and thinner outsole durometers. I know the companies profess to have durable outsole materials, but I really don’t believe they are too concerned with that.

Needs to have a “walkers” heel drop of less than 8mm: have had shin pain with 10mm drops. The 1080 v 14 appears to have what I need. Using an old pair of NB 847 2E but those seem to be too narrow. The “successor” to the 847 is the Fuel Cell Walker Elite but I have read several comments that say that shoe runs narrow. Using NB 860 v 14 4E (either 8/10 heel drop) as my “everyday” walking shoe. Comments/Suggestions?

Sincerely, I always come here to get your impressions of new releases which we are going to carry within my company, Marathon Sports. That being said, there’s a pretty bad error that was made in this review. I believe the stack height for the 1080v14 is a 38/32. I believe it is the exact same stack and drop as the V13.
